The “Thought of the Week” examines the economic expansion of China, the world’s second largest economy, and how it impacts global macroeconomic prospects. With thirty years of annual growth of approximately 10%, it can be assumed China’s wealth creation will slow down. In fact, China has experienced a dip in growth not too dissimilar to that experienced in 2008; yet other recent indicators are positive. The question remains. Will growth rates fall precipitously causing asset values to plummet or simply settle at lower levels leaving them predominantly intact? Read what our investment committee thinks.
